Republican incumbent Andy Harris secured his party's nomination in the June 2026 primary with a strong majority, positioning him for the November general election against Democratic nominee Dan Schwartz in Maryland's 1st congressional district. The district, covering much of the Eastern Shore along with portions of Harford and Baltimore counties, has shown consistent Republican support in recent cycles, including Harris's 2024 reelection with nearly 60 percent of the vote. Attempts to adjust district lines for greater Democratic competitiveness have not altered the underlying partisan composition. Trader consensus reflected in the 83.5 percent Republican probability incorporates these structural advantages, primary results, and limited shifts in voter turnout patterns or endorsements since the primaries concluded.
