Official National Weather Service observations for August 29, 2026, recorded a daily maximum of 78–79°F at key New York City stations, aligning precisely with the market’s 100% consensus on that narrow range. This outcome reflects cooler-than-normal late-summer conditions driven by persistent onshore flow, elevated cloud cover, and a lack of strong high-pressure ridging that typically produces peaks near the 81°F climatological average. Model runs and surface analyses showed minimal diurnal warming potential under these stable atmospheric patterns. While final data revisions or station-specific discrepancies could theoretically shift the recorded high, the tight clustering of verified readings across multiple sites makes such adjustments highly improbable at this stage.
