Official National Weather Service observations from Austin-area stations recorded a daily minimum temperature of 72-73°F on September 18, driving the market's near-certain consensus on that narrow band. Late-summer climatology in central Texas typically features overnight lows in the low-to-mid 70s under high-pressure dominance and light winds, with minimal frontal activity or cloud cover to alter radiative cooling rates. Model guidance from NOAA's Global Forecast System aligned closely with these readings in the hours leading up to resolution. Only an undetected instrument malfunction or a highly localized microclimate deviation outside official reporting sites could realistically shift the outcome, both of which remain statistically improbable given redundant station data.
