Recent National Weather Service ensemble forecasts and model consensus have anchored overnight low temperatures in New York City for September 2 in the upper 60s to low 70s Fahrenheit, producing closely matched market-implied odds across the 68-71°F outcomes. Differentiating factors center on the precise timing and strength of any weak frontal passage, which controls cold-air advection, alongside variations in cloud cover that alter nocturnal longwave radiative cooling and local wind speeds that influence boundary-layer mixing. High uncertainty persists from model spread on humidity and urban heat-island effects, with fresh NWS guidance expected within hours that could refine probabilities if stronger cooling or warmer return flow develops.
