Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and supporting models project a high of 62–66°F in San Francisco on August 31, driven by a persistent marine layer and strong onshore flow from the cool California Current, which keeps adjacent Pacific waters near 55–58°F and limits afternoon warming. This setup, typical for the region in late summer, suppresses temperatures well below the 69.6°F climatological average for the date. Trader consensus centers on the 64–67°F bins because minor variations in stratus clearance or wind strength could shift the peak by a few degrees, while stronger marine influence would favor the lower end; the 68–69°F outcome remains a secondary possibility if clearing occurs earlier than expected. No significant model shifts have emerged in the past 24 hours.
