Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Penghu County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Taiwan's November 28, 2026, Penghu County magistrate race features a crowded field after incumbent Chen Kuang-fu withdrew due to health concerns, prompting the DPP to nominate his wife Wu Shu-chin. The KMT has backed Chen Chen-chung, the Huxi Township head, while multiple independents and other party figures have entered, fragmenting support across more than two dozen declared candidates. This multi-candidate dynamic keeps implied probabilities tightly clustered near even odds for leading contenders, as vote splitting remains a core risk. Recent party nominations and local mobilization efforts have yet to produce decisive separation in trader assessments. Scheduled candidate forums, fresh polling on key local issues such as tourism and fisheries policy, and any late withdrawals or endorsements could consolidate backing and shift the balance ahead of election day.
