Magdalena Andersson leads trader pricing for Sweden’s next prime minister ahead of the September 13 general election because recent polling aggregates show her Social Democrat-led centre-left bloc holding a narrow edge over the incumbent right-wing coalition, positioning her as the probable head of government if that bloc secures a Riksdag majority. Ulf Kristersson’s lower share reflects the governing Moderate-led alliance’s persistent deficit in most surveys, despite late narrowing of the gap in Novus and Demoskop releases and ongoing coalition negotiations involving the Sweden Democrats. Key campaign issues including crime, cost of living, and energy policy have dominated recent weeks, while early voting and a late-August school attack briefly shifted attention to security. Smaller-party leaders remain at minimal levels consistent with their parties’ limited prospects of forming or leading the next administration.
