Ralph Norman holds a commanding lead in York County for the August 25 Republican Senate runoff because he represents South Carolina’s 5th congressional district, which includes the county, and finished first there in the August 11 special primary with a wide margin over Darline Graham Nordone. As a longtime Rock Hill resident and local businessman, Norman benefits from established name recognition and voter familiarity in a low-turnout contest limited to participants in prior Republican primaries. Statewide factors such as President Trump’s endorsement of Nordone and heavy outside spending have not offset these local advantages. While Nordone could narrow the gap through strong regional mobilization or unexpected turnout shifts before election day, Norman’s structural edge in his home county has produced the current trader consensus reflected in market pricing.
