Ralph Norman holds a commanding lead in the Greenville County portion of South Carolina’s Republican Senate special primary runoff because he captured 40 percent of the vote there in the August 11 primary—17 points ahead of Darline Graham—while finishing second statewide overall. The Upstate county’s conservative electorate favored the Rock Hill congressman’s hardline positions over Graham, the appointed senator and Lindsey Graham’s sister who benefited from President Trump’s endorsement and stronger performance in the Midlands and Lowcountry. With the August 25 runoff two days away and low early voting reported, Norman’s established local margins and regional base make a county victory the consensus outcome among traders. A sudden statewide surge for Graham or unusually low Upstate turnout could narrow the gap, though historical patterns and primary results indicate limited room for such shifts.
