Recent forecast guidance from multiple models indicates a northwest flow over Wellington on September 2, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and strong winds supporting daytime warming above seasonal norms near 13–14°C. This setup favors a peak temperature in the 15–17°C range, aligning with the market’s heavy weighting toward 16°C. Northwest winds advect milder Tasman air while clear periods enhance insolation during spring’s lengthening daylight; however, model spread and potential for increased cloud or timing shifts introduce uncertainty around exact maxima. Updated runs and any last-minute adjustments to the steering pattern will be key near-term catalysts for probability shifts.
