**Recent polling in the run-up to the September 6, 2026, Sachsen-Anhalt Landtag election shows the AfD consistently at 40–43% support, positioning it for roughly 38–41 seats in the 83-seat parliament and explaining the market's heavy weighting on that range.** The party has roughly doubled its 2021 result (20.8%), while the incumbent CDU has fallen to 22–23%. Smaller parties (FDP, BSW) sit near or below the 5% threshold, which influences final seat distribution through the state's proportional system with potential overhang mandates. Multiple institutes (Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, INSA, Infratest dimap) project the AfD below the 42 seats needed for an absolute majority, though outcomes remain sensitive to last-minute turnout shifts among undecided voters and minor-party performance. All other major parties maintain a firewall against cooperation with the AfD, whose state branch is classified as confirmed right-wing extremist, limiting post-election options but not altering the vote-to-seat math reflected in current pricing. The election itself occurs today, so trader consensus incorporates these late-campaign dynamics without resolution.
