Incumbent KMT magistrate Hsu Shu-hua holds an 89% implied probability in the Nantou County magistrate race ahead of Taiwan’s November 28, 2026 local elections, while DPP nominee Wen Shih-cheng sits at 11.5%. As the sitting officeholder since 2022, Hsu benefits from established name recognition, KMT organizational support across the county, and the party’s recent nomination of candidates for most magistrate seats. Wen has focused recent campaigning on local environmental concerns, reiterating opposition in May 2026 to a planned incinerator project and promoting alternatives tied to pollution and the tea industry. The wide gap in trader consensus reflects the structural advantages of incumbency and partisan alignment in this county, with limited recent polling or events narrowing the contest.
