Latest National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble guidance indicate an overnight low in the mid-60s for Chicago on September 6, primarily due to sustained northeast winds off Lake Michigan that moderate temperatures amid clear to partly cloudy skies. Radiational cooling under these conditions, combined with dew points near 60–65°F, supports moderate overnight drops without extreme chill. This setup keeps the 61°F-or-below outcome narrowly ahead in trader positioning, while bins from 64–69°F capture the core model consensus and any weakening lake influence. Historical September 6 lows average around 63°F, underscoring the narrow spread and sensitivity to final model runs before resolution.
