Recent July ISM Services PMI data at 54.1, slightly below consensus forecasts, continues to anchor trader expectations for August around steady expansion in the low-to-mid 50s amid resilient new orders and business activity. The services sector, which accounts for the bulk of U.S. GDP, has posted 25 consecutive months above the 50 threshold, supported by factors such as World Cup-related spending while tariff effects and Middle East-related comments have moderated. Persistent input cost pressures from petroleum prices and broader inflation concerns, alongside mixed employment readings, contribute to the tight clustering of probabilities between the 53.0–53.9 and 54.0–54.9 ranges. Upcoming labor market and inflation releases ahead of the September 3 report will likely shape final positioning.
