Hsu Shu-hua, the Kuomintang incumbent Nantou County magistrate, holds a commanding lead in trader pricing ahead of the November 28 local election. Her position stems from strong local party organization, demonstrated by a unified September 2 registration event pairing her with 13 township mayoral candidates under a “13+1” unity slogan, alongside a record of debt reduction, expanded senior welfare programs, and infrastructure projects such as transit hubs and community bus services. The Democratic Progressive Party challenger, dentist Wen Shih-cheng, lacks prior elected experience in the county and has lived elsewhere for decades. Analysts rate the race as safe for the incumbent in this KMT-leaning area with established native-son voting patterns, though late developments such as turnout shifts or unforeseen controversies could still alter outcomes before election day.
