Gold (XAU/USD) trades near $4,370–$4,400 per ounce following the Federal Reserve’s 25-basis-point hike to the 3.75–4.00% target range on September 16, with prices rebounding as longer-term Treasury yields eased modestly despite the hawkish tone. Higher real yields and a firmer dollar typically raise the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding bullion, yet supportive factors include ongoing central bank accumulation and fading immediate inflation pressures from softer oil prices. Trader positioning for the week of September 21 will likely hinge on upcoming FOMC member speeches, September PMI data, jobless claims, and durable goods orders, which could refine expectations for additional tightening and influence near-term volatility around key technical levels near $4,350 support and $4,450–$4,500 resistance.
