TX-35 is an open seat following redistricting that shifted the district's partisan lean from heavily Democratic toward a more competitive profile, with a Cook Partisan Voting Index around R+4. Democrat Johnny Garcia, a Bexar County deputy sheriff, won his party's May 2026 runoff and faces Republican Carlos De La Cruz, an Air Force veteran and brother of Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who secured the GOP nomination. The November 3 general election remains three months away, and trader consensus at 58.5% for Democrats versus 40% for Republicans reflects the seat's underlying demographic advantages for Democrats in the Austin-San Antonio corridor offset by the new map's structural gains for Republicans. Limited recent polling shows a narrow contest consistent with these implied probabilities.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
