Early results from Alaska’s August 18 nonpartisan top-four primary show Democrats Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins and Tom Begich leading with roughly 20-22% each, followed by Republicans Bernadette Wilson and Dave Bronson near 9-11%, positioning these four to advance under the state’s ranked-choice general election system. The open race stems from term limits barring incumbent Republican Mike Dunleavy, with vote-splitting across a dozen Republican candidates and independents like former Governor Bill Walker reducing the odds for others. With most precincts reporting and ballots still being tallied, final margins could shift modestly but appear unlikely to alter the top-four outcome. Traders are pricing in these leads as the primary advances to the November 3 general election.
