The fragmented field of independent candidates for Poprad mayor in Slovakia’s October 24 municipal elections keeps the contest tightly contested, with no dominant frontrunner emerging after candidate registration closed in August. Incumbent Anton Danko, backed by Smer-SD, Hlas-SD, and SNS, faces challenges from business figures Mikuláš Bobák, who emphasizes regional Tatras cooperation and private-sector experience, and Jozef Králik, who highlights managerial efficiency. A potential unified opposition effort collapsed when František Majerský withdrew from the mayoral race to focus on council seats. Trader consensus around 44% for the top two and lower for others reflects this dispersion of support, local council tensions, and the absence of recent polling or major endorsements that could consolidate backing ahead of the vote.
