Multiple parties and local movements have fielded competitive candidates for Ostrava's October 9–10 municipal elections, producing a fragmented field where no single contender holds a decisive edge. Incumbent Jan Dohnal leads the rebranded srdcOVA coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, while Richard Vereš heads ANO, Lukáš Semerák leads Ostravak, Rostislav Řeha represents the Pirates, Aleš Boháč heads Starostové pro Ostrava, and Ivana Lucáková Nesétová, Ondřej Němeček and Matěj Gregor front other lists. Recent June announcements of these slates, combined with the council-based selection of the mayor after proportional representation voting, have kept implied probabilities tightly clustered near even odds. Local priorities such as transport links, housing, cross-border cooperation with Katowice and environmental projects remain central, with the short remaining campaign window offering limited scope for major shifts absent unexpected coalition realignments or turnout surprises.
