The communal elections on 9–10 October 2026 will elect České Budějovice’s 45-member council under a proportional system, after which the mayor is selected through coalition negotiations rather than direct popular vote. Recent council instability, including the June 2026 collapse of the prior ANO–HOPB–TOP 09–KDU-ČSL arrangement and formation of a new ANO–ČSSD–ODS–KDU-ČSL grouping, has left multiple viable blocs. Leading contenders include incumbent Dagmar Škodová Parmová (Naše Česko), ANO’s Jiří Svoboda, HOPB/STAN’s Tomáš Chovanec and Juraj Thoma, Společně’s Ondřej Talíř and Tomáš Bouzek, ODS’s Jan Teplý, and Piráti’s Pavel Tůma. With no party positioned for a clear majority and alliances still fluid weeks before candidate lists close, traders assign closely matched probabilities across frontrunners. Late shifts in turnout among independents or decisive post-election deals could quickly alter the consensus.
