Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro on September 9, 2026, confirming a $1,199 starting price for the 256GB model—a $100 increase over the prior generation. The hike stems from sharply higher memory chip costs, with DRAM and NAND prices surging amid AI-driven demand, pushing component expenses up roughly 38 percent year-over-year according to supply-chain analyses. Apple offset some costs through design efficiencies and in-house components but passed along a moderated increase after earlier forecasts of $200-plus rises. Pre-orders opened September 12 with availability set for September 18, aligning with typical launch timelines and providing clear resolution criteria for any related prediction markets.
