This market will resolve to “Yes” if Christopher Luxon ceases to be Prime Minister of New Zealand for any period of time between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Christopher Luxon's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Christopher Luxon and the government of New Zealand; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Christopher Luxon has consolidated his position as National Party leader and prime minister following a mid-August 2026 caucus confidence vote, his second such test in four months. The emergency meeting, triggered by media reports of internal canvassing, resulted in Luxon securing full caucus support; he subsequently removed Defence Minister Chris Penk from cabinet after attributing the challenge to him, prompting Penk to announce he would not contest the November 7 election. Recent RNZ-Reid Research polling shows continued weak National support and Luxon’s net approval at -22.9, yet no further leadership moves have emerged in the ensuing fortnight. With the general election only weeks away and a long-standing norm against mid-term removal of a sitting prime minister, traders assign just a 6.5% chance of Luxon departing by September 30.
