This market will resolve to “Yes” if Jerome Powell is officially announced as accepting or beginning a formal role within the corporate or governance structure of a qualifying AI company by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” A qualifying AI company is any organization that develops general-purpose artificial intelligence models, including, but not limited to, Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI, and Meta. Qualifying roles include employment, executive, officer, director, formal advisory, or governance positions at a qualifying AI company, including membership in a body formally responsible for governing or overseeing the company. A role within a subsidiary or controlled entity of a qualifying AI company will also qualify. Merely investing in a qualifying AI company, entering into a commercial or research partnership, informally advising, working for an independent organization that collaborates with or providing services to a qualifying company will not qualify unless Jerome Powell also accepts or begins a formal role within the company’s corporate or governance structure. An official announcement that Jerome Powell has accepted a qualifying role will be sufficient, regardless of when he formally begins serving in that role. The primary resolution source will be official information from the qualifying AI company, the relevant governance body, or Jerome Powell; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Jerome Powell’s background as a longtime central banker with expertise in monetary policy rather than artificial intelligence or large language model development underpins the 94% market-implied odds against him joining an AI company in 2026. His term as Fed Chair ended in May 2026, and he has remained on the board as a governor while signaling a low-profile exit once investigations conclude, consistent with traditional post-Fed paths into academia, think tanks, or finance advisory roles. Powell has publicly discussed AI’s productivity gains and urged workers to master the technology, yet these comments reflect economic analysis rather than interest in industry employment. A swing toward yes would require an unusual high-level offer from a lab seeking regulatory insight, though his record and current positioning make that outcome improbable.
