This market will resolve to "Yes" if Alibaba's next Qwen Flash model (3.9+) is made available to the general public between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying model must have a name or model identifier that includes "Qwen" and "Flash," be the flagship model of Alibaba's core Qwen Flash tier, and be designated as version 3.9 or higher, regardless of capitalization or surrounding prefixes, suffixes, dates, or descriptors. For example, a version 3.9 or higher named in the same manner as Qwen3.7-Flash or Qwen3.8-Flash would qualify, including a new whole-number generation such as Qwen4-Flash, while models whose name does not include "Flash" or which retain a version designation below 3.9, such as Qwen3.8-Flash, Qwen3.8-Plus, or Qwen3.9-Max, will not qualify. Derivative lines such as VL, Coder, Omni, or other specialized variants, such as qwen3-coder-flash, will not qualify. A qualifying model must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must either be clearly defined and publicly announced by Alibaba as accessible to the general public, or otherwise be made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled on the company's official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Alibaba, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.**Alibaba’s Qwen team released Qwen3.8-Flash (alongside the open-weight Qwen3.8-Flash-Next preview) on August 26, 2026, marking the latest in a rapid 2026 cadence that already included Qwen3.7-Flash in late July and multiple 3.8 variants earlier in August.** This multimodal MoE model activates only ~6B parameters per token from a 125B base (plus 51B N-gram embeddings), delivers strong coding and office-task gains over Qwen3.7-Plus at roughly one-ninth the training cost, supports a native 262K-token context (expandable to 1M), and is priced aggressively via API while open weights under the new Qwen Community License preview the Qwen4 architecture. Traders see continued fast iteration from Alibaba amid competition with DeepSeek, Anthropic, and others on efficiency and agentic performance, but the very recent 3.8 launch and lack of any announced 3.9+ timeline create uncertainty—next catalysts would likely include developer conferences, benchmark updates, or explicit Qwen4/Flash roadmaps that could accelerate or delay a 3.9+ release.
