Strong July 2026 ISM Manufacturing PMI at 55.6—its highest since May 2022—anchors trader expectations for the August release, with new orders at 56.7, production surging to 58.5, and employment returning to expansion at 52.8 for the first time in over two years. This momentum, fueled by AI-driven investment, front-loaded orders ahead of potential tariffs, and low inventories, supports the closely matched probabilities clustered around 54.0–55.9. Persistent pricing volatility, supply-chain strains from geopolitical tensions, and tariff effects introduce downside risks that cap consensus above 56, while resilient demand indicators limit odds of a sharp pullback below 54. The September 1 release will test whether July’s broad-based gains extend into the second half of the year.
