This market will resolve according to the change in the total nonfarm payroll employment reported by the BLS "Employment Situation Summary" for August 2026, scheduled to be released on September 4, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If no data for the specified month is released by the date the next month's data is scheduled to be released, this market will resolve based on data from the last available month. The BLS "Employment Situation Summary" may be found here: https://www.bls.gov/bls/newsrels.htmThe weak July 2026 nonfarm payrolls report, showing an unexpected 23,000 job loss against 80,000 consensus expectations along with sizable downward revisions to prior months, has become the dominant factor tilting trader sentiment toward subdued August gains. Softening private-sector hiring, a 53,000 drop in government payrolls, and the unemployment rate holding at 4.1% with falling labor-force participation underscore broader cooling in the labor market. These developments have widened the distribution of implied probabilities, with the largest share on the 0–50k bin, as markets price in continued moderation ahead of the September 4 release. Key swing factors include upcoming inflation prints, Fed communications on monetary policy, and any further revisions that could alter the trajectory of rate-cut expectations.
