This market will resolve according to the winner of the 2026 New Mexico gubernatorial election. A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party. The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.Deb Haaland’s commanding position as the Democratic nominee in New Mexico’s open 2026 gubernatorial race stems from the state’s consistent Democratic lean in statewide contests, her high name recognition from prior service in Congress and as Interior secretary, and a decisive primary victory that consolidated party support. Polling through late August shows her holding a lead over Republican nominee Gregg Hull, the former Rio Rancho mayor, though margins have narrowed in some surveys amid an open seat created by term limits on incumbent Michelle Lujan Grisham. Trader consensus reflected in the current odds aligns with nonpartisan race ratings classifying the contest as solid or likely Democratic, driven by structural advantages in voter registration and historical turnout patterns. Factors that could narrow the gap include shifts in late-campaign polling, turnout differences among key voting blocs, or unforeseen developments in the final weeks before the November 3 general election.
