Persistent warm, humid air across the Southeast under mostly clear skies is keeping Atlanta's overnight low anchored near the mid-70s on September 5, with National Weather Service and model guidance centering the minimum around 75–76 °F. Light winds and high dew points near 70 °F reduce radiative cooling rates, while patchy fog after midnight may further moderate the drop. The narrow spread between the leading 72–73 °F and 74–75 °F bins reflects trader focus on small differences in cloud cover, wind, and boundary-layer moisture that could trim or sustain the low by a degree or two before sunrise. Historical September averages near 68 °F underscore how anomalous the current heat is, but recent model runs show little change in the overnight profile.
