Incumbent Democrat Don Beyer secured the party's nomination in the August 2026 primary with roughly two-thirds of the vote, facing no serious general election threat in Virginia's 8th District. The Northern Virginia seat covering Arlington, Alexandria, and eastern Fairfax County maintains a strong Democratic partisan lean, reflected in consistent ratings of Solid or Safe Democratic from outlets like the Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball. Beyer's long tenure since 2015, combined with Republican nominee Tony Sabio's limited visibility and resources as a former CIA and Secret Service officer, reinforces trader consensus around a Democratic hold. Late national shifts, a major scandal, or unusually low Democratic turnout could narrow the margin, though the district's fundamentals and historical voting patterns make such outcomes improbable before the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
