The open Thunder Bay mayoral contest on October 26, replacing retiring incumbent Ken Boshcoff, features a crowded field of candidates with overlapping municipal, business, and community backgrounds that has kept trader consensus tight. Aldo Ruberto leads at 44 percent, followed by Trevor Giertuga at 27.5 percent and Moe Comuzzi at 26 percent, with the balance spread across additional contenders and an "Other" category. A September CBC survey identified homelessness and encampments as the dominant voter issue, followed by crime, infrastructure, and cost of living, yet no public polling has yet established clear separation. Early campaign positioning on these priorities, plus scheduled debates and endorsements ahead of the vote, could shift probabilities as voters weigh experience against fresh approaches in this open-seat race.
