Elon Musk’s July 22, 2026 Tesla earnings call comments, citing “more and more overlap” in AI infrastructure, manufacturing, and Terafab semiconductor collaboration, remain the main catalyst sustaining merger speculation. Growing operational ties—such as Tesla supplying batteries and robotics tech to SpaceX—support trader views of eventual synergies in autonomous systems and energy storage, though Musk deferred any formal process to legal and governance channels. Recent reports of possible China business separation to ease regulatory hurdles have mixed with Musk’s dismissals of related rumors as “fake news,” keeping odds fluid ahead of SpaceX earnings and potential year-end catalysts. Major barriers include shareholder approvals, antitrust scrutiny, and Musk’s differing ownership stakes across the firms.

An announcement by Tesla or SpaceX within this market's timeframe will qualify for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether or when the announced acquisition/merger actually occurs.
Announcements of partial sales may count, as long as the acquiring company acquires a controlling interest in the other company. A “controlling interest” refers to a change in ownership sufficient to control the company’s strategic decisions (typically more than 50% of equity, or equivalent control via voting and governance rights). Transactions or investments that do not result in a transfer of controlling interest will not count.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Tesla or SpaceX; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
