Rebecca Bennett holds a commanding lead in trader pricing for the NJ-07 House seat because the Republican incumbent’s extended absence from Congress damaged his standing ahead of the November midterm. Thomas Kean Jr. missed roughly 140 votes between early March and late June 2026 while hospitalized for depression, returning only after the Democratic primary. Bennett, a former Navy helicopter pilot, won her June primary decisively and has since posted strong fundraising totals exceeding $4 million while securing national Democratic support. A mid-September poll showed her ahead 47-42 percent among likely voters in the competitive district that Donald Trump carried by one point in 2024. Kean’s unfavorable ratings exceed 50 percent, reflecting the lasting impact of his prolonged absence on voter assessments of incumbency performance.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
