In the Côte-du-Sud riding for Quebec’s October 5 National Assembly election, trader odds reflect a tight three-way contest among Valérie Hamel of the Parti Québécois, Frédéric Poulin of the Parti conservateur du Québec, and incumbent Mathieu Rivest of the Coalition Avenir Québec, with Nancy St-Pierre of the Parti libéral du Québec trailing. Recent candidate confirmations—Hamel in early August and Poulin in June—along with provincial polling showing the PQ, PCQ, and CAQ clustered near 25-30% support in the riding, have kept probabilities closely aligned. Local priorities such as health care access, agricultural interests, and regional services, combined with the CAQ’s narrower provincial standing and the absence of a dominant frontrunner, sustain the balance. Advance voting begins September 27, and further shifts in turnout or late campaign developments could alter the outcome before nominations close on September 17.
