**Recent polling from late August 2026 shows the Rio Grande do Norte Senate race for the two available seats remains fluid, with incumbent Styvenson Valentim (Podemos) holding a clear edge for first place while the contest for second stays tightly contested among Zenaide Maia (PSD), Rafael Motta (PDT), Samanda de Lula (PT), and Coronel Hélio (PL).** Combined first-and-second-choice surveys place Valentim well ahead, yet second-preference support lifts Hélio notably, while Maia, Motta, and Samanda cluster within a few points amid 23–24% undecided or blank/null responses. Official campaigning began mid-August following party conventions that confirmed 13 candidates, with structural factors such as incumbency advantages, party coalitions, and voter willingness to split tickets keeping probabilities compressed. Late shifts in second-choice flows, turnout among undecided voters, or alliance adjustments before the October 4 vote could widen gaps among the main contenders for the remaining seat.
