Official Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasts point to a maximum of 34°C for Kuala Lumpur on September 7 amid widespread haze and isolated afternoon thunderstorms, aligning closely with the 53% market-implied probability for that outcome. Regional haze from biomass burning can suppress daytime heating while maintaining high humidity typical of the inter-monsoon period, when September climatology shows average highs near 32–33°C. Ensemble model guidance and recent observations indicate limited potential for 35°C or higher under partly cloudy skies with light winds, keeping those probabilities low. Traders appear to weigh the official 34°C guidance most heavily ahead of final temperature readings used for market resolution.
