Recent cooling in China's consumer prices, with July's annual rate falling to 0.5% year-on-year below forecasts amid declining food costs and softer non-food pressures, has created tight trader consensus around the 0.5-0.6% and 0.7-0.8% ranges for August. Persistent weak domestic demand, easing energy prices, and subdued producer inflation continue to anchor expectations for limited rebound, while any pickup in retail sales, pork prices, or policy stimulus could shift momentum toward the higher bin. The market's narrow spread reflects uncertainty over whether the downtrend stabilizes or sees modest upside before the September release.
