São Tomé and Príncipe’s 27 September 2026 parliamentary election occurs weeks after President Carlos Vila Nova secured re-election as an independent backed by the MLSTP–PSD. The vote follows a 2025 constitutional dispute in which Vila Nova dismissed ADI Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada and installed Américo Ramos, splitting the ADI and prompting the former ruling party’s parliamentary leader to challenge the president. With the MLSTP–PSD holding 18 seats and benefiting from the president’s recent victory and coalition alignment, traders assign it an 89.5 % implied probability of securing the most seats. The ADI’s internal fractures and lower 10 % odds reflect these divisions, while smaller parties remain marginal under the proportional-representation system.
