Apple’s September 9 “Surprise and Shine” event is the immediate catalyst for the foldable iPhone price market, with the device widely expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models as a premium “iPhone Ultra.” Supply-chain reports and analyst estimates from Ming-Chi Kuo, TrendForce, and others converge on a U.S. starting price of $2,000–$2,500 for the 256 GB model, driven by the cost of a near-crease-free 7.8-inch inner OLED, advanced hinge, titanium-aluminum chassis, higher RAM, and AI-optimized silicon—placing it well above the iPhone 17 Pro Max and in line with or above Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup. Production yields have improved enough for a fall launch window, though initial volumes may be limited. Traders are watching for any last-minute pricing adjustments or confirmation of storage tiers before the event resolves the market.
