Idaho’s 1st congressional district remains a strongly Republican seat, with the incumbent Russ Fulcher securing the party nomination in the May 2026 primary by a wide margin after previously winning reelection with 71 percent of the vote. Forecasters rate the race Solid or Safe Republican based on the district’s partisan voting index, consistent conservative performance in recent cycles, and limited Democratic infrastructure. Kaylee Peterson’s Democratic nomination and the presence of an independent candidate have not shifted the underlying voter composition or fundraising dynamics. Trader consensus on a Republican victory reflects these structural factors. A realistic challenge would require an unforeseen event such as a major scandal involving the incumbent or an extraordinary national political shift that alters turnout patterns before November.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
