Local government elections are scheduled to be held across Tasmania on October 27, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of the Northern Midlands Council area as a result of this election. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the result of the election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as declared by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission (https://www.tec.tas.gov.au/).In Tasmania's Northern Midlands Council mayoral race, a non-partisan contest decided by postal ballot on October 27, 2026, trader consensus shows a tightly fragmented field. Incumbent Mary Knowles holds a modest edge amid multiple challengers including Andrew McCullagh, Adam Barnett, Angela Offord, and Wendy Mitchell. Ongoing council disputes over governance, legal costs, and transparency have shaped candidate positioning, while voters assess records on infrastructure, rural services, and rate management. Nominations close September 21, leaving room for additional entrants to further split preferences. The absence of a dominant frontrunner keeps implied probabilities clustered, with separation likely hinging on candidate forums, postal turnout patterns, and any late shifts in local priorities before ballots are counted.
