Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins faces a fragmented Democratic field in Louisiana’s 3rd district open primary on November 3, 2026. The district’s strong Republican lean, demonstrated by Higgins’ 70.6% share in 2024, supports trader expectations that he can secure an outright majority and avoid a December 12 runoff. Recent candidate qualifying in early August confirmed multiple Democratic entrants, including repeat challengers, but none have shown the consolidated support or resources needed to split the vote enough to force a second round. Current pricing reflects this historical precedent and structural advantage for the incumbent in a low-turnout primary environment.
