Recent July ISM Services PMI data at 54.1, just below consensus, anchors trader expectations for the August release near 53.0–54.9, where roughly 58% of market-implied probability resides. Steady services expansion, supported by resilient new orders and business activity indices, contrasts with employment contracting to 47.4 and persistent price pressures from petroleum costs. Manufacturing’s July jump to 55.6 signals potential spillover, contributing to the 16.8% odds on 58.0+, while softening labor market readings and upcoming August CPI and regional Fed surveys introduce downside risks that keep lower buckets active. Aggregated trader positioning reflects this narrow range of outcomes consistent with the 12-month average near 53.4.
