Louisiana’s 6th congressional district uses a jungle primary on November 3, 2026, requiring any candidate to surpass 50 percent for an outright win or face a December 12 runoff. Recent redistricting following the Supreme Court’s Louisiana v. Callais decision shifted the seat toward a Republican lean, prompting multiple GOP challengers including State Sen. Blake Miguez to qualify against incumbent Democrat Cleo Fields. Forecasters rate the race as a likely GOP flip, yet the crowded field—particularly several Democrats—creates vote fragmentation that historically prevents any single contender from clearing a majority in the open primary. This dynamic underpins trader consensus against an outright first-round winner.
