This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by NOAA at the William P. Hobby Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 8 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=khou This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Persistent late-summer high pressure and light southerly flow are keeping overnight lows elevated across the Houston area ahead of September 8.** Official forecasts from sources such as WeatherBug and the National Weather Service currently project a daily minimum in the upper 70s to low 80s °F under mostly clear skies, with highs near 95 °F and heat indices above 105 °F. This aligns with the recent pattern of 79–82 °F lows observed since early September, well above the 1991–2020 climatological average low of roughly 74 °F for that date. Key scientific drivers include high dew points (near 75 °F), minimal radiational cooling under calm winds, and urban heat retention that limits temperature drops after sunset. Recent rainfall on September 3 increased soil moisture, which can modestly suppress overnight cooling, while the absence of strong cold fronts or significant cloud cover keeps the boundary layer warm. Model consensus shows little disagreement on the overall pattern, but small variations in wind speed, timing of any sea-breeze effects, or residual moisture can shift the exact minimum by 2–4 °F. Trader sentiment reflected in the closely matched probabilities (roughly 24–25 % each for bins from 74–75 °F through 84–85 °F) captures this forecast uncertainty around the expected range, with negligible odds assigned to extremes below 74 °F or above 87 °F. Updated model runs and evening observations over the next 48 hours will likely narrow the distribution as the event approaches resolution.
