This market will resolve according to the winner of the 2026 Maine gubernatorial election. A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party. The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.Hannah Pingree secured the Democratic nomination through ranked-choice voting in the June 2026 primary and maintains a consistent double-digit lead in subsequent surveys against Republican nominee Bobby Charles, with independent Rick Bennett drawing single-digit support. The open-seat contest follows term limits on Democratic incumbent Janet Mills, and recent polling averages show Pingree at roughly 49-53% compared to Charles at 36-42%. Maine's electoral patterns, including ranked-choice voting in the general election and Democratic strength in recent statewide races, underpin trader consensus reflected in the 96.3% implied probability for a Democratic victory. Factors that could narrow or reverse this positioning include late-campaign polling shifts, stronger independent performance splitting the vote, turnout variations, or external events altering voter priorities before November 3.
