Persistent heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for Tokyo on September 7 are the main driver keeping market-implied odds clustered around 26–27°C. Multiple models, including GFS and regional guidance, show extensive cloud cover, southerly flow, and high humidity suppressing daytime heating, with consensus highs in the mid-20s Celsius and limited solar insolation. This setup contrasts with Tokyo’s early-September climatological average near 29°C. Recent model runs have converged on similar outcomes, though slight variations in timing of heaviest precipitation or wind shifts could nudge the daily maximum by 1–2°C. Traders are weighing these forecast uncertainties against official Japan Meteorological Agency updates expected in the next 48 hours.
