OpenAI’s September 8 launch of ChatGPT Images 2.5, featuring 50% faster generation, superior multi-turn editing consistency, precise local edits via annotations or sketches, and stronger subject preservation from reference images, has driven its 78.5% implied probability. Recent arena leaderboards place its GPT-Image-2.5 variants at the top for editing tasks, reflecting trader consensus on demonstrated gains in complex scene stability and instruction adherence over prior versions. While Microsoft AI’s MAI-Image-2.6 series, Google’s Nano Banana models, and offerings from ByteDance and Reve remain competitive on broader benchmarks, the timing of OpenAI’s update ahead of the late-October resolution window has shifted sentiment decisively. No major competing releases have emerged in the past week to challenge this positioning.
