The imminent August 28 release of the Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes Tin stands as the dominant catalyst behind the 89% market-implied probability for a price decline in the Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare (276/217) from Ascended Heroes. Traders anticipate additional sealed product supply hitting secondary markets by August 31, accelerating the card’s recent cooling after earlier 2026 hype drove raw values above $1,400 before a 4–7% pullback across TCGPlayer, eBay, and other platforms in the past week. Historical patterns show chase SIRs from similar expansions often soften post-tin launches as collector inventory increases, outweighing any residual pop-culture momentum around the popular “Treekachu” artwork. Upcoming chart updates and early post-release comps will likely reinforce this downward pressure before the month closes.
