Magdalena Andersson leads the centre-left opposition bloc in sustained polling ahead of Sweden’s September 13 parliamentary election, reflecting the Social Democrats’ consistent position as the largest party and the bloc’s projected seat majority despite a narrowing gap in recent surveys. Incumbent Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s right-wing coalition, supported by the Sweden Democrats, trails by roughly 5 percentage points in late August data, limiting his market-implied prospects for reappointment. Campaign focus on welfare spending, cost of living, and security has reinforced Andersson’s frontrunner status among traders, while minor-party leaders register negligible shares given bloc dynamics and threshold rules for Riksdag representation. The election outcome will determine government formation and the subsequent prime ministerial appointment.
